New Maestro di Cappella of the Cappella Bugeja

Following a public contest, the jury, composed of three professional musicians and two representatives of the Maltese Dominican Province, selected Mr Mauro Farrugia as maestro di cappella of the prestigious Cappella Bugeja.
The selection process comprised two phases. First a shortlisting of the 19 applications submitted was conducted. Second a 15-minute interview was held for the 9 chosen finalists.
Mauro Farrugia is a distinguished Maltese composer, conductor, orchestrator, educator, and producer whose artistic practice encompasses the Classical, Choral, Contemporary, and Chamber music traditions. Farrugia developed a multifaceted career that bridges composition, performance, music education, and artistic direction, both in Malta and internationally. He holds a First Class Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Music Composition from the University of Malta.
