Br Jan Gauci receives the habit of Saint Dominic

Sunday, 28 September 2025, was a beautiful day for the Maltese Dominican Family as Br Jan Gauci received the habit of St. Dominic at the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, as he began his novitiate year. Present for this occasion was the Provincial, Fr. Vince Micallef OP, who bestowed the habit of the Order on Fra Jan, as well as the Master of Students of our Province, Fra Llewellyn Muscat OP.

Fra Jan is joined in his novitiate year by a number of other novices from the three Italian Dominican provinces and from the Dominican Province of Brazil.

Also present were some students from our Province, Fra Matthias Buhagiar, and Fra Kieran Cassar, who travelled from Bologna for the occasion.

The novitiate is a reflection and introduction to the life, spirituality and history of the Dominican Order. During this time the novice experiences community life more closely while continuing to discover his calling.
