In the first weeks of the year 2026, the Dominican Mission in Albania was hit by a severe ordeal. Heavy and incessant rain has caused extensive damage that has profoundly impacted the daily lives of the Dominican Brothers and their pastoral work among the Albanian people.
Facilities that for years served as spaces of hope, education, and formation are now in a devastating state. Some of these include:
St. Dominic’s Parish and the Parish Center, including the classrooms for catechism and formation;
The residence of the Maltese Dominican Brothers;
St. George’s Parish in the Lagjja Mirdita neighborhood;
Vehicles and essential equipment for pastoral work, such as computers and electronic devices;
Serious damage to the electrical and security systems.
The damage is not merely material. These are real obstacles to the daily mission of the brothers: providing education, human and spiritual formation, and living witness to the Gospel among communities that already live in difficult circumstances.

Therefore, today the Maltese Dominican Missionaries are turning to your generosity. With humility and trust, they are appealing for help from the Maltese people and all those whose hearts are open to solidarity.
Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. It can help rebuild these facilities so that the mission can continue to offer spaces of hope, learning, and faith, and so that the Dominican presence in Albania remains alive and active.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, prayers, and solidarity. Together, we can rebuild what was destroyed and continue to spread light where there is currently only darkness.
Donations can be sent via the bank account of the Maltese Dominican Province:
